Hi, I'm Dr. Daniel Lopez!
I'm an osteopathic physician with over 15 years of experience and thousands of patient encounters who teaches other osteopaths fast and efficient ways of treating patients so they can get better results and stand out from others.
I was a swimmer growing up. I have always loved the sport, but I was always in a lot of pain. I learned so much about the human body from it.
My greatest joy is my family, but my second greatest joy is helping patients when no one else can and sharing what I learn with other osteopaths so they can have a greater impact with their own patients.
I created this course because, over time, I found a way that I felt was simple, fast, and more effective than what is traditionally taught, better reflecting the osteopathic principles we learn. I felt like it was time to fill in the gap between what is promised at the beginning of osteopathic education (where the pain is, is not necessarily where the problem is), and the failure at the end to teach that.
It also bothers me that osteopaths mock real-life examples of the interconnectedness of the body. That should not be the norm in our profession, and it only tells me that osteopathic education is failing to teach these concepts across the board. I believe we can and should be doing better for ourselves and our patients.
What's inside
In Module 1, you'll learn the specifics of the Speed Scan, a fast, whole-body evaluation method that takes 1-2 minutes. You'll get step-by-step instructions on how to perform the exam itself. You'll have an example of how to expand your exam, if needed. Finally, you'll see it performed in real-time. Included in the module are tips on getting the most out of the Speed Scan and the methods of palpation we will be using, and why.
By the end of this module, you should be able to perform a comprehensive yet simple assessment of your patients that can serve as a standalone method of evaluation or blended into your current method.
Now that you have done your Speed Scan, you need to know how to interpret your findings. The Muscle Clue Mindset teaches you the specific method to evaluate more in-depth, if needed, or evaluate regions that are not part of the Speed Scan. You will learn a system to know where to go searching for clues in areas that you may need to treat for the resolution of your patient's problems.
By the end of this module, you should understand the mindset that will help you as you do your Speed Scan to understand what the body is communicating to you with tension and how to explore further, if needed.
In Module 3, you'll be putting the bigger picture of the Speed Scan and Muscle Clue Mindset together. In this module, you'll learn a multi-component model to approach your patient's problem from global to local so they can have the best outcome. In this module, you will be taught the interconnectedness exercise, which illustrates how treating one area can have body-wide effects. Module 3 will also have real-life example videos of patient treatments, including the Speed Scan and the thought process during the treatment based on the initial findings. This is invaluable because you get to see the process and mindset in action.
With this information, you'll be well on your way to having a system that will help you understand where to treat, how the body is connected, and will keep you "digging deeper" to learn more for the rest of your career.

Why doesn't our osteopathic education cover this?
This can be a complex question. It is not my intention to criticize, but fill in a foundational piece in a perceived gap in our osteopathic education. My personal thought is that as part of the standardization of osteopathic education, osteopathic students are taught to diagnose specific dysfunctions and then treat those specific dysfunctions. Teachers often state, "You have many tools in your toolbelt, so if one technique doesn't work, you have others." Students are taught a myopic form of diagnosis that gives no feedback on what is happening with the rest of the body. They cannot see the "forest beyond the trees." They are not taught that if a dysfunction is resistant to treatment, maybe they are in the wrong area and need to search elsewhere for the cause of that particular dysfunction. They are not taught a method of how to search beyond where the patient has pain. They are not taught to experience the interconnectedness of the body. As these students graduate, they then become teachers and one cannot teach what they do not know.
How will the material in Digging Deeper help me?
The material in Digging Deeper is to teach a simple system of evaluation and the associated mindset and procedure that will allow the osteopath to have a clear system of where to go searching for answers and see the "forest beyond the trees." The Digging Deeper approach allows the treating osteopath to have real-time feedback on the effectiveness of their treatment. Using this method regularly, stimulates constant growth and insights creating perpetual growth and evolution.
Isn't my standard method of evaluation good enough?
If your current method is myopic and doesn't give you feedback on changes happening throughout the body. If your evaluation system and mindset give you real-time feedback during your treatment, guidance on where to treat while giving you the experience of the interconnectedness of the body, and keep you perpetually learning the more you use it, then your approach is good enough. The system in Digging Deeper can be added to your current system or act as a standalone system. Is it hard to learn the material and mindset?
